Not All Wet Wipes Are The Same!

When people think of wet wipes, they tend to think of one big universal product; a product that’s the same, whatever setting it’s used in. In reality, though, there’s a huge breadth and depth in the type of formula and fabrics used to make wet wipes. A variety that depends entirely on the particular application in question.

The team here at Guardpack manufacture private label wet wipes for industries ranging from restaurants to the automotive sector. We wanted to explain just how much variety you can find in the humble wet wipe…

Type of Fabric

Something we’re often asked as a wet wipe supplier is what fabrics our wet wipes are made from? The truth is that it depends! Again, though many people assume wet wipes are just made from one fabric, this isn’t the case. If you’re looking to order a supply of your economic finger wet wipes, then your wipe will be made from standard tissue crepe.

If you’re looking for something a bit more substantial, on the other hand – perhaps for personal care and beauty products – then we’d always suggest going with soft, non-woven fabrics. Similarly, we can produce wet wipes from 100% naturally-derived fibres (completely plastic free) which go gently on skin (especially for babies).

On the other end of the spectrum, when looking to give the grime on tools and heavy machinery a quick clean, then we also manufacture wet wipes from a more abrasive material for additional scrubbing power! So, whether you’re looking for soft and dainty, or something to wipe off even the toughest dirt and muck, we’ll be able to provide the right wet wipe fabric for you.

Type of Formula

Here at Guardpack, we’re proud to house over 30 base liquids that enable us to produce a number of mixes and formulas in-house; the result of this is that we can produce the appropriate formulas for the following range of wet wipe products:

  • Alcohol-free wipes with anti-static formula (ideal for device screens).
  • Antibacterial formula that offers a smear-free finish (great for smartphones).
  • Aqueous-based leather cleaning solution (for use on leather shoes, furniture and clothing).
  • Multipurpose alcohol wipes (effective in most settings, especially where fast evaporation is needed).
  • Baby wipes impregnated with a formula designed specially to go easy on skin; made of natural oils and infused with chamomile extracts, this pH-balanced formula is also entirely free from parabens.
  • Our ‘Minty Lemon’ formula is perfect for use in hand cleansing wipes for restaurants and fast-food chains.

Society Needs Wet Wipes Now More Than Ever

All things going well, we’re now fast approaching the end of the pandemic (at least to the extent to which it puts a halt on everyday ‘normal’ life). If this past year has reminded us of anything, however, it’s the importance of good hygiene habits.

With schools and universities already having returned, restaurant re-openings on the not-too-distant horizon and workplaces gearing up for a return to the office, it’s crucial that we don’t develop a sort of ‘vaccine complacency’ and forget about the basics.

Wiping down surfaces with antibacterial wipes remains one of the best things you can do in preventing viral spread. Whatever the setting, whether personal or professional, you can always make use of a wet wipe or two. So, remember this new mantra whenever you leave the house from now on – phone, wallet, keys and… wet wipes.

Wet Wipes Are Becoming More Sustainable

We recently wrote about the importance of upholding our corporate social responsibilities as a company. One of the most important of these is our commitment to sustainability and the environment. In practise, this means utilising biodegradable tissue fabrics wherever possible and switching to the use of recyclable laminate in 100% of our wet wipe packaging. It’s all very well talking the talk when it comes to greener principles. They count for very little, however, unless you practise what you preach – so that’s what we always aim to do!
